Empowering the Next Generation: Telangana Sanctions Funds for Girl Child Empowerment Clubs in 3147 Schools

Hyderabad, Telangana – In a significant move towards fostering gender equity and empowering adolescent girls, the State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, Telangana, has sanctioned funds for the formation of Girl Child Empowerment Clubs across the state.

According to the official proceedings (Rc.No.3045/SS/T8/Gender/2022) dated March 4th, 2025, presented by Sri E.V. Narasimha Reddy, I.A.S., a total of Rs. 15,73,500/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs, Seventy-Three Thousand Five Hundred) has been allocated for this vital initiative during the academic year 2024-25.

This funding will directly support the establishment and activities of these clubs in 3147 schools throughout Telangana. The initiative aims to create dedicated spaces within schools where girls can:

  • Develop confidence and leadership skills.

  • Gain awareness on important issues related to adolescence, health, and equity.

  • Build supportive peer networks.

  • Engage in activities that promote their overall well-being and empowerment.

The sanctioned amount is being released through the Finance Controller’s office, drawing from the budget allocated under the Adolescent Education Programme (Gender & Equity component) of the Samagra Shiksha’s Annual Work Plan & Budget (AWP&B) 2024-25.

As detailed in the accompanying Annexure II, the funds are distributed across various districts, with each of the 3147 designated schools set to receive Rs. 500 to kickstart the club’s formation and activities.

All District Educational Officers & Ex-Officio Project Officers in the State have been instructed to ensure these funds are utilized effectively and exclusively for the purpose of running the Girl Child Empowerment Clubs.

This initiative by Samagra Shiksha Telangana marks a commendable step in investing in the future of girls, providing them with platforms to thrive and realize their full potential. The establishment of these clubs is expected to contribute significantly to a more inclusive and equitable educational environment across the state.
